The Carbon Road Series Mk IV Cobra

The CRS represented a fascinating development of the Mk IV Cobra, combining the unmistakable AC shape with more modern construction.

In place of traditional aluminium coachwork, the CRS used a full carbon-fibre body over a tubular steel chassis, helping reduce weight while retaining the character and presence for which the MkIV Cobra is renowned.

With only 37 examples produced, the CRS remains one of the rarer post-Thames Ditton AC models.

Mechanical Specification

Power comes from the 5.0-litre Ford V8, driving through a Tremec five-speed manual gearbox and Hydratrak limited-slip differential.

Fully independent double-wishbone suspension, rack-and-pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes give the CRS a more accomplished road manner while preserving the direct, involving driving experience expected of a Cobra.

Provenance

What sets this car apart is its first owner!

As previously mentioned, its first owner was Damon Hill, through his company P1 International, gives number 34 provenance few comparable Cobras can claim, and great car and coffee bragging rights. Combined with its low mileage, limited ownership and extremely small production run, it represents a particularly interesting example of the later AC marque.
