Ownership History and Documented Rebuild

This October 1970 E-Type Series 2 Fixed Head Coupe presents with a well-documented history and genuine mileage of 87,381 miles from new.

The car was purchased in 1989 from Simon Robinson Classics in Darlington, described at the time as an original example in superb condition. Soon after acquisition, the owner commissioned a comprehensive bare-metal rebuild through a Durham-based main dealership equipped with classic car facilities.

Work carried out during 1990–91 included a bare-metal respray with replacement metal where required, a full engine rebuild, gearbox rebuild, suspension overhaul, and removal of the rear subframe for a complete brake system rebuild.

The accompanying restoration book documents the process in detail and records the car as being rebuilt to “concours condition.” An MOT issued on completion shows 84,751 miles, closely aligning with the current indicated mileage.

Long-Term Collection Use

A copy of the original buff logbook confirms the car has spent most of its life in the North East of England. During the rebuild it was discovered the car had originally been finished in light blue.

Following completion of the work, the E-Type entered a private collection and saw minimal use over the following three decades, covering only around 500 dry miles during that period

Recent Ownership and Recommissioning

The current owner acquired the car in 2021 and has used it lightly at local events, recording only 2630 miles total since the rebuild. Sensible recommissioning work has since been carried out to ensure reliable road use.

This has included the installation of a new galvanised fuel tank along with replacement fuel and coolant hoses, a brake system overhaul and a refresh of the clutch hydraulics.

Our on site workshop partner has also completed a full health check, road test and professional detailing ahead of sale.
