One of the Rarest and Most Desirable Jaguar XK150 Models
Introduced in 1957, the Jaguar XK150 was the final and most sophisticated development of the legendary XK line that began with the XK120 in 1948. Building upon the success of the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 offered improved refinement, greater comfort and enhanced performance while retaining the unmistakable character that established Jaguar as one of Britain’s leading sporting marques.
The arrival of the larger 3.8-litre engine in 1959 elevated the XK150 to new heights, but it was the range-topping ‘S’ specification that enthusiasts sought above all others. Equipped with triple SU carburettors, producing a quoted 265 bhp and fitted with overdrive as standard, the XK150 3.8 S combined effortless long-distance touring with outstanding performance. Today, the Fixed Head Coupé ranks among the rarest variants, with only 115 right-hand drive examples built.
Completed on 26 February 1960, chassis T825157DN is the 71st right-hand drive 3.8 S Fixed Head Coupé produced. Finished from new in the exceptionally elegant combination of Black with Red interior, it is one of only six examples supplied in this factory colour scheme, making it an especially rare and desirable motor car.
Exceptional Provenance and Long-Term Ownership
Supplied new through Henlys of London and first registered on 23 March 1960, this XK150 has enjoyed just six recorded private owners throughout its life. Its original buff logbook remains with the car, documenting an impressive history of long-term custodianship, including 35 years with its third owner and a further 18 years with its fourth.
Accompanying the car is an outstanding history file including the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, original operating and maintenance handbook, service manual, distributors and dealers booklet, together with period tax discs dating from 1964. As a matching-numbers example with such comprehensive documentation, it represents a particularly well-preserved example of Jaguar’s flagship XK.
