The Journey
Aston Martin International S48 was first acquired by the current family in 1988 as a dismantled project from Trevor Peerless of Sussex. With the ash frame professionally repaired, bodywork restored, and mechanicals rebuilt, the car returned to the road in 1991. Its running-in period was completed by 1993, and from that time S48 has been used consistently.
Importantly, the history file not only includes full restoration records but also correspondence with early owners, an unusual and valuable element in its provenance.
Custodianship and Specialist Care
In 2006 the car passed to the next generation, who continued its active use and entrusted maintenance to Ecurie Bertelli at that time. Notable works have included a gearbox and clutch rebuild, front and rear axle overhauls, and new road wheels.
Regular attention has ensured mechanical strength, with the odometer now recording 37,124 miles.
Use and Eligibility
S48 has never been left idle. Like many of its surviving contemporaries, It has regularly completed family tours, long-distance rallies, and outings with the VSCC, alongside occasional speed events.
The standard classification of this Aston Martin International ensures continued eligibility for future VSCC participation.
The Aston Martin International Heritage Continues.
The Aston Martin International carried the spirit of Bamford & Martin into the 1930s, combining practicality with sporting capability. Praised in period for its handling and braking, it offered four-seat touring alongside competitive performance.
Today, chassis S48 presents as a well-documented, consistently maintained, and highly usable example. Eligible for events, suited to long-distance driving, and rich in provenance, it is offered to the market after 37 years in single family care.
