Long before “reimagined by” became a familiar phrase, Autofarm was building properly engineered classic 911s. Established in 1973, the company developed its reputation through mechanical integrity, careful donor selection and cars designed to be driven hard and often.
XAG 3K was commissioned in 2006 as Autofarm’s Grand Tourer edition, completed in 2007 and built to deliver early 911 aesthetics with genuinely usable modern performance. It remains in the care of only its third custodian since completion and is accompanied by a detailed record of its specification and history. The car has featured on PistonHeads, was driven by Henry Catchpole for Evo magazine with a five-star verdict, and appeared in a six-page feature in Total 911.

Chassis and Engineering Specification
At its core is a galvanised Carrera 3.2 bodyshell, chosen not only for corrosion resistance but as one of the last shells capable of accepting early wings, lights and bumpers. Externally, the presentation is pure 1972: long-bonnet lines, 2.4-style engine grille and subtle 911S badging. The car remains badged as a 2.4ltr, in keeping with the original 1972 specification.
Power is supplied by a 964-derived 3.6-litre flat-six, paired with a G50 five-speed gearbox and limited-slip differential. A bespoke stainless-steel sports exhaust complements an output of approximately 250 bhp.
Suspension is uprated with Bilstein dampers and Turbo torsion bars, while 15-inch Fuchs wheels conceal four-pot Boxster brakes. There is no ABS, maintaining the direct, analogue character expected of an air-cooled 911.
Interior, Usability and Driver Focus
The cabin reflects a clear brief: purposeful, minimal and centred on the driver. Period Recaro seats retrimmed in cowhide sit behind a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, and Carrera 3.2 dashboard providing familiar ergonomics.
Unnecessary elements have been removed—no rear seats, no cup holders, no door pockets—creating useful luggage space and a focused cockpit environment. At the same time, central locking, alarm/immobiliser and electric windows ensure genuine real-world usability, echoing the ethos of the 964 RS Touring.
A Proven Autofarm 911 for Road Use
With around 15,000 miles covered since completion, XAG 3K has been used as intended and validated by respected voices within the Porsche community. It is neither tribute nor pastiche, but an early example of the Autofarm approach: engineering-led, understated and built for driving.
