1964 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 FHC
Early Preview Information – 1964 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 FHC
Finished in its original special-order Carmen Red, this matching-numbers Series 1 4.2 Fixed Head Coupé has recently arrived with us and is currently undergoing preparation ahead of a full launch.
Supplied new by Henlys Limited of Manchester in late 1964, the car has had just five owners from new and has been in the care of its current custodian for more than twenty years. Acquired as a project, it was subject to a comprehensive rebuild completed in 2006, with approximately 300 photographs documenting the work. Importantly, the car has not spent the years since hidden away. Instead, it has covered almost 17,000 miles, providing a reassuring endorsement of both the quality of the rebuild and the confidence its owner had in the finished product.
Today, the E-Type presents beautifully throughout and is supported by an extensive history file documenting ownership, maintenance and ongoing development. The original gearbox has recently been rebuilt, while upgrades including uprated brakes, a balanced engine, fast-road camshafts and carefully considered reliability improvements make it an especially usable example. Combining known ownership, substantial documentation and proven road-going credentials, this appears to be a particularly well-sorted example of the ever-popular Series 1 4.2.
Further details, photography and a comprehensive description will follow shortly. Early enquiries are warmly welcomed.
