The second owner was South African born test cricket captain turned commentator, Anthony William Grieg who from 1975 to 1977 captained England and Sussex. He was thought by many former players and pundits to have been one of England's leading international all-rounders. Following the end of his career, he emigrated to Australia and became a commentator.
By 1989 the Mercedes Benz made its way to South Wales, and this is where the car remained up to 2020 when it sold to a classic car enthusiast in Sussex. During the car's time in Wales it was regularly on the show scene and having had a lady owner for ten years from 2001 to 2011, then spent nine years with a retired Mercedes Benz enthusiast who covered 4000 miles in the car. The mileage was taken to 72000 during his ownership and on the initial purchase he spent £3000 to take the car to his standards.
Maintenance continued with new brake calipers, a new filter and gasket for the automatic gearbox, and remedial paintwork to keep the car looking best in class condition.
In 2022 the car was purchased by a UK-born businessman who mainly reside in Asia using the car during last summer and the early part of this summer. He is soon to leave the UK again for a long stint before returning in 2024. He has asked me to market the car and find a new home. Over all It is a largely original car with excellent history and great mileage. She has always been a garaged car with owners who have clearly maintained it with no expense spared. The Mercedes Benz is excellent on the road, is first-class to drive, and does not disappoint. The bodywork is first class throughout with a gleaming paint finish and high-quality chrome, and the original upholstery has a lovely, clean original look and feel to it. With a hard top and recently replaced soft top, this is a fine example ideal for some enjoyable summer weekend cruising.
