This original right hand drive AC Ace-Bristol was completed in late 1960 finding her first owner in early January 1961. This first owner was RGP Edwards of Salisbury, Rhodesia who used the car very actively in motorsport activities—rallies and racing, including the Kyalami 9-hour South African race on two occasions. Edwards owned the car for 30 years before selling to B. Tyler of Heritage Cars, an importer of Lotus and MG’s, who was also very experienced in racing in the area

In March 1999, the 3^rd owner, Jean-Marc Dubost saw the car whilst on holiday, bought it and imported it into France where he lived. He immediately set about a restoration which was completed in a leisurely manner over a three-year period. This work included the installation of a stainless steel fuel tank, the addition of an overdrive, repainting and re-upholstering. The work was completed just prior to the inaugural Le Mans Classic in 2002, where the car participated, as it then did every year. It was also used extensively in other race meetings and rallies.

In 2013, Jean-Marc commenced a second restoration, this time in England. Andrew Mitchell was tasked with chassis dynamic upgrades, including full chassis stiffening plus fitment of antiroll bars. Stiffening removes well-documented weakness of the original design. The bodywork was then restored, as detailed in the accompanying history file, the works including repairs to the body framework and panels following years of competition.

Whilst the above was in progress, the (original) engine was with Mike Freeman for rebuild, again all thoroughly documented in the aforementioned file. The gearbox was rebuilt, everything being completed in time for the 60^th Anniversary of the AC Ace in 2013.

In 2022, the car was sold and imported back into the UK, repainted in black with black wheels and a lovely deep olive green leather interior. A stunning example of the model. FIVA papers are available.
